Thomas Kitchell Is Set for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Thomas Kitchell is prepared to compete in the men’s shot put in Boston this weekend.
BOSTON - Following an impressive indoor campaign from ACC Champion Thomas Kitchell, the senior is set to take on the nation's best in the men's shot put at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.

The last Demon Deacon to win an individual national title was Wake Forest Sports Hall of Famer Michael Bingham in the 400m in 2009. During the 2009 season, Brent LaRue also competed for a national title in the heptathlon.
Since then three Deacs have been named All-Americans.
Wake Forest Indoor Track & Field All-Americans
The last Deac to win an ACC Indoor Championship in the shot put was Andy Bloom. During his time at Wake Forest, Bloom claimed three ACC Shot Put Titles including winning the championships back-to-back years in 1993 and 1994.
In February, Kitchell claimed the ACC Championship with a season-best throw of 19.32m. Prior to that throw, the senior's longest throw of the season was 19.31m at the Winston-Salem College Kickoff where he finished first in the event. The Bethlehem, Pa.. native finished first in all six shot put competitions during the 2024 indoor track & field season.

Following the conclusion of the indoor season, the Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams will prepare for the Charlotte 49er Classic that will take place from March 14-16.
