
No. 37 Wake Forest Set for Big Four Battle in ACC Tournament Against No. 24 Duke

The Demon Deacons will look to advance to the quarterfinals for the sixth-consecutive season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After earning a first-round bye and the No. 9 seed, the No. 37-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team will open postseason play against No. 24-ranked and No. 8-seeded Duke on Thursday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m.
All matches throughout the tournament will take place at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. and will run from Wednesday, April 17 to Sunday, April 21.
The winner of the match between the Demon Deacons and the Blue Devils will go on to face No. 1 seed North Carolina on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
2024 ACC Championships
Single day tickets are priced at $10 for adults (ages 18 and older) and $7 for youth ages 17 and under. Admission is free for children 9 and under. ACC college students get in free with a school ID. A full championship pass for all five days is priced at $25. All seating for the tournament is General Admission.

Versus Duke
The Blue Devils enter the tournament with a 14-8 overall record after going 7-6 in ACC play. It will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools, with Duke winning the first battle (4-1) in Winston-Salem on March 22. Wake Forest took the doubles point and was in good positon to win on courts one and two when the match concluded.
Duke has won the ACC Championship 18 times, with the last coming two seasons ago in Rome, Ga. and holds a 77-19 overall record in the tournament.
The Blue Devils have five ranked singles players, led by freshman Shavit Kimchi who is ranked No. 65 in the nation.

Behind a dominant all-around showing in singles play, the No. 36-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated No. 57 Clemson, 4-1, at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C. last Friday evening.
The Demon Deacons dropped the doubles point after the Tigers took courts two and three. Senior Brooke Killingsworth and graduate student Marcella Cruz took first doubles with a 6-3 win over Louka/Thompson on court one. The duo, ranked No. 82 in the nation, improved to an impressive 12-6 in dual play this campaign.
The Deacs bounced back in singles with wins on four of the six courts and clinched the match victory. Wake Forest also led on the remaining two courts when the match was clinched.
Senior Casie Wooten notched her team-high 15th win in dual play to just six losses with a 6-2, 6-2 victory on court one over Eleni Louka. The No. 30 player in the nation has also accumulated 22 total wins since the start of the fall and six against ACC opponents.
In second singles, Killingsworth improved to 8-2 in her last 10 matches as she took down Cristina Mayorova, 6-3, 6-4, and clinched the victory. She now leads the team with seven wins over ACC opponents this season.
Cruz extended her winning streak to three-consecutive matches with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Daniella Medvedeva in third singles. With the win, she became the sixth Demon Deacon to reach double-digit singles victories in dual play this season.
In her first singles match since February, redshirt freshman Krystal Blanch earned a dominant, 6-1, 6-1 victory on court six and was the first Demon Deacon to close out a match Friday evening.
Sophomore Nevena Carton (6-2, 5-5) and freshman Sankavi Gownder (6-2, 1-6, 5-2) both led on courts four and five, respectively.
Wake Forest has now won six-consecutive matches against Clemson dating back to 2018. Additionally, the Deacs improved to 24-32 all-time against the Tigers.
Sunday, April 12 - Wake Forest 1, Georgia Tech 6
In the final match until postseason play, the No. 36-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team fell to No. 24 Georgia Tech, 6-1, at the Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta Sunday afternoon.
The Demon Deacons dropped the doubles point as the Yellow Jackets claimed courts one and three. Wooten and Blanch earned their seventh win as a partnership as they took down Georgia Tech's Cruz/Roach in second doubles, 6-3.
Gownder notched her 14th singles victory in dual play so far this season as she defeated Mahak Jain, 6-3, 7-6(5), in fifth singles. Her 14 wins rank second on the team and her six conference victories are tied for the most with Killingsworth and Pate.
