
Demon Deacons Are Set To Wrap Up the Regular Season at the Charlotte Invitational

The Deacs will have 33 athletes competing this weekend in Charlotte.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams are primed to wrap up the regular season in Charlotte at the Charlotte Invitational. The Demon Deacons will have 33 athletes competing in Charlotte this weekend.
Last season, the Deacs finished the 2023 Charlotte Invitational with 12 podium finishes. Most notably, Leia Braunagel (women's discus), Ashlyn Giles (women's shot put), Katrina Andreassen (women's hammer) and Robbie Grace (women's long jump) earned first place finishes.
In the Deacs last time out at the Wake Forest Invitational, Rynard Swanepoel and Megan Cook set new Wake Forest records in their respective events. Swanepoel set the new program-record in the 800m with a time of 1:45.84 and a first place finish in the event. Additionally, the junior set a new meet and facility record.
In the women's hammer, Cook continued her dominant 2024 campaign with a second place finish in the event. The graduate student claimed the podium finish with a 60.21m throw, this throw marked a new personal-best and is the longest outdoor hammer throw in Wake Forest history.
The Charlotte Invitational begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on Friday, April 26th at Irwin Belk Track & Field Center. Live results for the weekend can be found here.
