Deacs Jump Four Spots After Second Round of NCAA Play

CARLSBAD, Calif. - The Wake Forest women's golf team jumped four spots on the leaderboard after the second round of Championship play to make it inside the top 15.
The Deacs are currently T14 and the top 15 teams at the conclusion of the round on Sunday will advance to Monday. Wake had a three-stroke improvement from the first to the second round and are just nine shots back of the top eight.
Senior Mimi Rhodes continued to lead the Deacs with steady play for her second consecutive even-par round to remain even for the tournament and has stayed inside the top 30 on the individual leaderboard. Freshman Macy Pate improved her first-round score of 77 by three strokes to 74. Junior Carolina Chacarra also improved her round by an impressive seven strokes after shooting 78 on the first day and a one-under 71 on Saturday.
Wake Forest is third in the field with 120 total pars and has also improved to 19 birdies over 36 holes. Rhodes leads the team, shooting even par on the par-fours and two under the par-fives. Pate leads the team with 28 total pars, third-most in the field.
Sunday's third round begins with tee times starting at 6:40 a.m. PT/9:40 a.m. ET. Wake Forest will tee off at 8:30 off the first tee and will be paired with Texas and Arizona State.
