WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - In addition to women's golf senior Mimi Rhodes earning NCAA All-America honors at the conclusion of the women's championship, graduate Rachel Kuehn, junior Carolina Chacarra and freshman Macy Pate all earned Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America honors, as announced by the organization on Friday.
Kuehn was named to the WGCA Second Team, making her a five-time All-American, and Chacarra and Pate were named Honorable Mention. This is the first All-America honor for Pate and the third for Chacarra.
Rhodes finished the year with a 71.56 stroke average over 27 rounds played and finished top 10 at NCAA Championships to earn NCAA All-American honors for the first time in her career. Over her final season, the England native had two top-five finishes and six more top 20 finishes in 12 events. She had a career-best T3 finish at the Schooner Classic with a seven-under score of 203 and a closing-round 66. Over the course of the season, 17 of her 27 rounds were even or under par.
Kuehn, who is arguably the best player in the history of the Wake Forest women's golf program, owns the lowest four-year career scoring average in program history with a 71.19 and the lowest five-year scoring average in program history with a 71.10 over 136 rounds of stroke play.
She owns the fourth-lowest single season scoring average with a 70.78 in her senior campaign in 2022-23 and won her seventh and eighth individual career titles this season at the ACC Championship in April and the NCAA Regional in May. Her eight career wins is third-most in program history. This season, she became the first known mother-daughter duo to win the ACC individual title in April (her mother Brenda won the individual title in 1986).
The Asheville native recorded two more top-five finishes, in addition to her two wins, at the Schooner Classic (T3) and the Moon Golf Invitational (T4) and finished T6 at the East Lake Cup with a single-round score of 72. She was the only player to have all 31 rounds of her season count toward the team total at every event and was one of just two players to compete in every single event of the year. In total, 26 of her 32 rounds in her final season were even or under par. She was named the ACC Golfer of the Month in April for winning the ACC individual title while helping the Deacs win their eighth ACC title in program history.
Chacarra finished her junior season second on the team with a 71.04 stroke average over 23 rounds played and had three top-five finishes at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup (3rd), Schooner Classic (T3) and ACC Championship (T5). She recorded a season-low seven-under 203 at the Schooner Classic with an opening round score of 63 and had one more top-10 finished at the East Lake Cup (9th) and two more top-15 at the Windy City Classic (T14) and ANNIKA Intercollegiate (T15). The Spaniard finished inside the top 21 in all but one event of the season.
The 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year Macy Pate finished inside the top 25 in nine of 12 events in her freshman season and recorded 24 of 31 rounds even or under par. She had a season-best T2 finish at the East Lake Cup with a single-round score of 71 and finished inside the top 10 at ANNIKA Intercollegiate (T9), Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (T8) and the NCAA Regionals (T7) at Bermuda Run Country Club. The Winston-Salem native had a season scoring average of 71.48 over her 31 stroke play rounds and was one of just two players to compete in every single event of the season.
Most recently, Wake Forest finished ninth at the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California, narrowly missing the cut for match play by one stroke after coming back from 10 strokes off the cut line. The team sank 11 birdies on their final nine holes of competition to close the gap.
The Deacs won four titles during the 2023-24 season, including the program's eighth ACC title, which they won against Clemson at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington in April and head coach Kim Lewellen was named the ACC Coach of the Year for the third time in six seasons at the helm of the Deacs and the sixth time in her career.
Pate, Kuehn, Chacarra and Rhodes all earned a spot on the All-ACC Team as well. This marks the third-consecutive year Wake Forest has had four or more players earn All-League honors. Kuehn is now a four-time All-ACC selection, and Chacarra and Rhodes are three-time selections.
