The Toronto native is Wake Forest’s fourth transfer to join the program in 2024.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – With the spring 2024 semester having recently wrapped, Wake Forest volleyball has welcomed another addition to its roster, as the program and head coach Randi Smart announced the signing of Jaime Santer on Tuesday (June 4).

Santer is set to arrive as a graduate transfer for the incoming 2024-25 school year after spending the past four seasons at the University of Hawai'i as a member of the beach volleyball team.

"Adding Jaime to this group is such a great finishing piece for us," noted Coach Smart. "She has been very successful on the beach, internally motivated and hardworking. She is going to bring a competitive spirit that is contagious. I can't wait to get her here and see what we can do adding her to this really talented roster already. We are so excited to have Jaime!"

Hailing from Toronto, Santer has enjoyed noteworthy success during her tenure with the BeachBows, as the team was crowned the 2024 Big West Champions. She helped lead Hawai'i to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances from 2022-24 and collected several individual accolades, including:
  • 2024 AVCA Second Team All-American
  • 2024 All-Big West First Team
  • 2023 All-Big West Second Team
  • 2022 All-Big West Honorable Mention
  • 2021 All-Big West First Team
Through her senior year in 2023-24, Santer was a standout alongside teammate Alana Embry – the two were named the Queen Cup's Most Outstanding Pair after going a perfect 6-0. Santer ultimately played in all 35 matches at the top of the order and won a team-best 24 contests, as more than a half dozen occurred over ranked squads. She finished her career standing seventh all-time at Hawai'i in dual wins, totaling 85.

In the classroom, Santer was named Academic All-Big West twice (2022-23) and earned nods on the Dean's List for each of her eight semesters.

Outside of her collegiate experience, Santer represented on the Beach Volleyball National Team during 2022 and 2023 while also finishing 9th at the U-21 World Championships for beach in 2021.

Why Wake?:
"I chose Wake Forest for many reasons," said Santer. "First, the amazing coaching staff, who I felt connected to the first time I spoke to them and their belief in me as an athlete. Second, the renowned education offered by Wake Forest is unmatched to any school I have been to. Third, I was excited to have a very different experience than living in Toronto and Hawai'i, and North Carolina was beautiful.

"I want to grow my indoor game and push my teammates to be the best athletes we can be. It would be amazing to get to the NCAA tournament. I have been there three times for beach volleyball, so having the chance to go in my first year back (for indoor) would be awesome. I'm also excited to be back in the gym with the indoor team environment since it's very different from beach."

Jaime is the daughter of Karen Santer and has two older siblings: Erik (30) and Connor (28). She plans to pursue a Master of Business Administration.

Santer rounds out a group of four graduate transfers set to play for the Deacons in 2024-25, joining Laila Ricks (University of Maryland), Tina Grkovic (Rutgers University) and Sahara Maruska (Rice University).
