Wake Forest Unveils 2024-25 Non-Conference Slate

The Demon Deacons will open the season at home against Queens College on Monday, Nov. 4.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Returning a strong, experienced roster, the Wake Forest women's basketball is looking to build on the first two seasons under the direction of head coach Megan Gebbia, announcing the highly-anticipated 2024-25 non-conference schedule Tuesday afternoon.
 
Highlighted by eight matchups at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the Demon Deacons non-conference slate features 11 contests in total.
 
The Deacs will tip off the 2024-25 season on Monday, Nov. 4, squaring off with Queens College (NY), before traveling to take on in-state Charlotte on Thursday, Nov. 7.
 
Away matchups at Villanova on Sunday, November 10 and at St. John's on Sunday, December 8 round out the three games away from LJVM Coliseum during non-conference play.
 
Game times and broadcast information for each of the Demon Deacons' 11 non-conference games will be announced at a later date.
 
Additionally, the ACC announced home and away matchups for conference play with date and times announced at a later date.

Women's Basketball Preseason Overview
Megan Gebbia enters her third season as the head coach of the Wake Forest women's basketball program, looking to build off the first two years of experience with a strong core returning and the addition of transfer veterans.
 
During the 2023-24 season, the Demon Deacons were challenged against one of the top-10 toughest schedules in the country. This includes 11 games against NET top-50 teams and 23 teams in the NET top-100.
 
The Demon Deacons will be led by rising fifth-year Elise Williams who put on a show at the end of last season. Williams, who is averaging 13.3 points per game over the course of the entire season, played some of her best basketball during the month February:

Those numbers helped Williams become the 31st player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark and she goes into the season ranked 28th in scoring in program history with 1,065 career points.
 
Williams led the team with 47 threes made over the course of the season. Overall, Wake Forest knocked down 204 threes during last season which ranks fourth in program history:

Additionally, the Deacs saw a massive uptick in free throw shooting percentage, going from 66.0 percent (343-of-520) last season to 72.5 percent (324-of-447) this season.
