
Wake Forest Wins Firetower Project Run to Open 2024 Season

Sophomore Brooke Wilson claimed the individual title.
BOONE, N.C. – With five Demon Deacons finishing in the top seven, the Wake Forest women's cross country team opened its 2024 season winning the Firetower Project run Friday evening at the Don Kennedy Trails in Boone, N.C.
As a team, the Demon Deacons tallied 20 points en route to Friday's victory, finishing 43 points ahead of second-place App State (63). Of note, the Deacs were the only team to have their entire top-five spread finish in the top-10.
Individually, the Demon Deacons were paced by sophomore standout Brooke Wilson as she placed first overall, clocking 20:28.09. In their Wake Forest debuts, Angelina Perez (20:49.71) and Molly Dreher (20:58.58) finished second and fourth, respectively.
Returners Elizabeth Whaley (21:04.21) and Alli Boehm (21:06.14) rounded-out the Deacs' top-five with sixth and seventh placed finishes.
Overall, Wake Forest had all 15 competitors finish in the top-50 Friday, with a meet-high 10 finishing in the top 30.
