
Wake Forest Set to Compete in the Nuttycombe Invitational

The women’s squad is slated to begin at 1:20 p.m. with the men following at 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After a dominant first-place victory by the women's squad at the Firetower Project Run and a strong third-place finish for the men's team at the Adidas XC Challenge season opener, the Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Friday afternoon in Madison, Wisc.
The women's 6k is slated to begin at 1:20 p.m., followed by the men's 8k with a start time of 2 p.m (Eastern). Live results can be found here

The Field
Week one performance leader, sophomore Brooke Wilson, aims to build on her strong form after securing a first-place finish with a time of 20:28:09 in Boone. Graduate students Angelina Perez and Molly Dreher are poised to make an impact after making their mark at the Firetower Project Run, where they placed second and fourth during their Wake Forest debuts, clocking 20:49.71 and 20:58.58.
The Demon Deacons' lineup will showcase week one's sixth and seventh place finishers, Elizabeth Whaley (21:04.21) Alli Boehm (21:06.14).
Additionally, freshman Aiden Harrand will make her return after an impressive 13th place finish in her collegiate debut.
Last Year at Nuttycombe
The men's team features sophomore Rocky Hansen, a two-time Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year award winner. Hansen placed sixth individually at the 2023 Nuttycombe Invitational clocking 23:27.2 in just his second collegiate race, helping lead Wake Forest to a 16th-place team finish.
Junior Gavin Ehlers followed with a strong showing, with a time of 24:21.6 to secure 96th place. Sophomore Hunter Jones and senior Luke Tewalt rounded out the top five for the Demon Deacons, finishing 133rd and 136th, respectively.
