WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team returns to play in Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum this weekend when they host the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday, Jan. 4. Tip is set for 12 p.m. and the game will air live on The CW.

The Wake Forest vs. NC State series is the second-most played ACC series in league history, behind only the Duke vs. North Carolina series by one game.

The Deacs are coming off their first ACC road win of the season and the first win for Wake Forest in program history at Syracuse. Wake defeated the Orange, 81-71, this week and is now 2-1 in ACC play. Wake is currently 7-0 at The Joel this season and are looking to start the fourth straight season 10-0 at home. The Demon Deacons join Duke and Pitt as the only league teams undefeated at home this season.

Against the Orange, Wake forced 18 turnovers and have now forced the second most turnovers in the ACC with 204 through the first 14 games of the season. The Demon Deacon defense held Syracuse to 38 percent from the field on 21-of-56 shooting Saturday afternoon. The Deacs also notched five blocks against Syracuse, moving their season total to 63 through 14 games.

Senior guard Hunter Sallis led the offense with a game-high 23 points, playing all 40 minutes while also making seven of his eight free-throw attempts and adding four assists and a pair of steals. Currently the team's leading scorer for a second straight season (18.2 points per game), Sallis now has six showings of 20-plus points through the first 14 games.

Tre'Von Spillers was steady for his fourth double-double of the season – 11 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to a team-high three steals and two blocks. Fellow senior Cameron Hildreth posted 14 points while shooting 5-for-9 from the field and grabbing three rebounds. Efton Reid tallied nine points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Making his first start as a Deac, Ty-Laur Johnson recorded 11 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 20 minutes of action. Freshman Juke Harris proved as a major contributor in the second half, finishing with 10 points and four rebounds. In total five Wake Forest individuals reached double-digits in points.

The Demon Deacons had their most efficient game of the season from beyond the arc, shooting 9-of-19 (47 percent) from three. The team's nine made three-pointers is the most since making 10 against Detroit Mercy.
