The Demon Deacons will compete in the 5k race at 5:45 p.m.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After an impressive top-10 finish at the Gans Creek Classic, the No. 25 Wake Forest women's cross country team is set to compete at the Spartan Classic on Friday afternoon at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville.
The 5k race is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. with live results being updated throughout the competition by Snap Timing.

Competing For The Deacs
Last Time Out
The Demon Deacons are coming off the backs of an outstanding top-10 finish at the highly competitive Gans Creek Classic, with Wake Forest placing 10th overall.
Junior Angelina Perez led the way for the Deacs as she placed fourth with a personal-best 6k time of 19:17.8. This marked the Ringwood, N.J., native's second top five finish of the season, having previously claimed her first career individual win at the Queen City Invite.
Two other Deacs finished the race inside the top-50, as senior Elizabeth Whaley recorded a time of 20:09.9 to place 40th, and junior Brooke Wilson claimed 45th-place after crossing the line in 20:15.6. Junior Mackenzie Hart added a 74th place finish and graduate student Maisie Wilmer rounded out the top five finishers as she finished in 154th.
Climbing The Rankings
The Demon Deacons climbed up into the top-25 of the USTFCCCA rankings following their 10th place finish at Gans Creek. This marks the first time the women's cross country program has been ranked inside the top-25 since the 2008 season.
Wake Forest is among seven teams from the ACC ranked in the latest USTFCCCA poll, as well as fourth in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region rankings.

The Demon Deacons will close out their regular season at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas on Oct. 17 before turning their attention to the ACC Championships.
