Demon Deacons Set for Road Matches at No. 7 SMU and No. 4 Pitt

Wake Forest volleyball steps into a pair of nationally-ranked tests next.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest volleyball (9-10, 3-5 ACC) heads out of state to continue Atlantic Coast Conference play this week, visiting No. 7 SMU and No. 4 Pitt.
The Demon Deacons will first match up with the Mustangs in Dallas on Friday night (Oct. 24) before facing the Panthers on Sunday afternoon.
Both of the Friday and Sunday matches will stream on ACC Network Extra.
The contests will serve as Wake Forest's third and fourth versus nationally-ranked opponents this season.

Friday, Oct. 17
Georgia Tech 3, Wake Forest 0
Wake Forest made a return to Varsity Arena this past Friday night, hosting Georgia Tech in an evening tilt. The Demon Deacons suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Yellow Jackets.
Patrycja Lagida led the Deacs with 10 kills on a .320 hitting percentage. She also chipped in two service aces to tie the match high, along with three digs.
Ryleigh Whitekettle posted seven kills while Paige Crawford and Sanaa Williams added six apiece.
Three Wake Forest players recorded five or more digs, led by Rian Baker's six. She and Becca Bellows contributed 11 and 13 assists, respectively.
Sunday, Oct. 19
Wake Forest 3, Clemson 0
Closing out the weekend on its home floor again, Wake Forest made a nice bounce back on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Clemson Tigers in a 3-0 sweep.
Kelis Hawkins got off to a strong start, ultimately going 8-for-10 on her attacks with only two errors (.600). The middle blocker also impressed defensively with three blocks. Joining Hawkins in the middle, Sanaa Williams posted seven kills on a .438 hitting percentage and a team-high five blocks.
Paige Crawford tied her career high in blocks (3) while adding eight kills and nine digs. Ryleigh Whitekettle chipped in eight kills on her own.
For the second time in four matches, Patrycja Lagida finished with three service aces – a mark that led all individuals and tied her season high. She also posted six kills, seven digs and two blocks.
Becca Bellows and Rian Baker totaled 20 and 13 assists, respectively. Baker also plugged in nine digs.
Emma Farrell recorded 12 digs, tying the match high.
With the victory, the Deacs upped their current win streak against Clemson to five matches in the all-time series.
Stepping Up the Serving
Within the last two weeks, Patrycja Lagida has impressed in her serving game, reaching season highs in single-match aces (3) on two separate occasions through the Deacs' last four performances. The Chotomow, Poland, native's 12 total aces through conference play is good for fourth among all league individuals.
