Women’s Tennis Unveils Spring 2026 Schedule
11/25/2025 10:10:00 AM | Women's Tennis
Fans will have 15 opportunities to watch the Demon Deacons at home this season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's tennis team released details of its spring 2026 schedule on Tuesday, announced by the program and head coach Jeff Wyshner. The Demon Deacons' slate features 24 regular-season matches, including 15 home showings.
"I'm really excited about this year's schedule," said Coach Wyshner. "It's a very similar non-conference schedule to the last couple of years. It is always interesting to start the year with a strong opponent in Tennessee, and then I am looking forward to a good home non-conference stretch in addition to big road matches at Old Dominion, Furman and Princeton, who all are typically near or at the top of their conferences. Conference-wise, the ACC always puts you up against many top teams. We are looking forward to our first trips to Cal, Stanford and SMU, alongside all the other great ACC matches.
"Ultimately, I think the schedule, especially with many big matches like Notre Dame, NC State, Miami and Florida State being at home, gives us a great opportunity to have a big year, but we'll have to put the work in now and be getting better month to month if we want to get to the end of the year and really feel that we took full advantage."
For a third consecutive season, Wake Forest will face the Tennessee Vols in a season opener (Jan. 17), making the trip to Knoxville. Two days later, the Deacs will be at home for the first time (Jan. 19), bringing in ETSU, before traveling to Furman that weekend for a Saturday matchup. The following weekend will include a Saturday doubleheader (Jan. 31), with contests versus Marshall and UNC Greensboro, finishing out the month for Wake Forest.
The Deacs open February on the road, visiting Old Dominion (Feb. 7), as the two sides have faced each other in each of the last three seasons. Afterward, two weeks of five straight home matches will unfold, with Wake Forest set to host Memphis, Liberty, Charlotte, William & Mary and App State during the span.
To wrap February, Wake Forest will head to the West Coast for first-ever road tests at Stanford (Feb. 27) and California (Feb. 28) as a start to Atlantic Coast Conference play. The team's first three matches in March will all happen at home, facing Miami and Florida State before matching up with NC State in its first Big Four matchup (March 11). During a mid-portion of the month, the Deacs will make out-of-state trips to SMU (March 13) and Princeton (March 21). A four-match homestand – with scheduled showings versus Syracuse, Boston College, Notre Dame and Louisville – closes out March and opens April for the team.
Wake Forest travels to the state of Virginia for the final week of the regular season, visiting the Virginia Cavaliers (April 10) and Virginia Tech Hokies (April 12). The 2026 ACC Championships will take place during the week of April 14-19, held in Cary for a fourth-straight year.

Women's Tennis Overview
Wake Forest enters its 16th spring under Coach Wyshner, as seven players are returners within the roster. A senior trio of Nevena Carton, Jingyi Li and Whitley Pate headlines the Deacs. Carton and Pate were top-three leaders on the team in singles wins last spring, totaling 13 and 11, respectively.
Redshirt junior Krystal Blanch enjoyed a strong second playing season in spring 2025, appearing in 23 matches and recording eight solo victories during dual match play. Another pair of juniors in the form of Sankavi Gownder and Aubrey Nisbet also step back into the mix. Gownder finished fourth on the roster in singles wins (10) this past spring while Nisbet made a return to the court after redshirting her freshman year.
Kady Tannenbaum is the team's lone returning sophomore. As a freshman, the Commack, N.Y., native ranked second on the roster in both singles (12) and doubles (13) wins for the spring. Additionally, Tannenbaum secured the team lead for combined solo wins across the fall and spring (18).
Sophomore transfer Heidi Bulger and true freshman Evie Oxford will be stepping into their first springs as Demon Deacons. A member of the Elon women's team a year ago, Bulger had an exceptional first season of collegiate tennis, being named the 2025 CAA Rookie of the Year and All-CAA second team in singles after going 18-4 for the spring. Oxford was a top-10 national recruit in high school and ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Texas. The Blue Chip recruit earned a career-high juniors ranking of No. 409 by the ITA.
