
Deacs Set to Start ACC Play on Sunday

The Demon Deacons are looking to start 1-0 in ACC play for the first time since the 2020-21 season when the Deacs made the NCAA Tournament.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team is ready to begin ACC play on Sunday when the Deacs play host to Georgia Tech at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum with tipoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The Demon Deacons (9-2, 0-0 ACC) are off to their best start in 15 years and in the first 11 games have been propelled by 17.4 assists per game which ranks 31st in the country. The Deacs have had the emergence of sophomore forward Grace Oliver as she is averaging a team-high 13.0 points per game and also ranking in the top 10 nationally with 62.2 percent shooting from the floor. Going into Sunday, the Deacs ranked 11th nationally and first in the ACC, holding opponents to just 32.7 shooting from the field and also ranking 24th in scoring defense with just 53.8 points per game allowed while also ranking 24th with 30.2 defensive rebounds per game.
The Yellowjackets (4-7, 0-0 ACC) have secured all four of their wins this season at home this season and are 0-3 in true road games and 0-2 in neutral games this season. Georgia Tech has been one of the most balanced teams in the country, ranking 13th nationally with 32.3 bench points per game. Additionally, they have been one of the better rebounding teams this season with 43.09 rebounds per game which ranks 31st nationally and second in the ACC. Sophomore guard Talayah Walker leads the team and ranks 11th in the conference with 12.9 points per game.
Tipoff for Sunday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (ET) at LJVM Coliseum.

Assists On Made Baskets
Wake Forest tallied 15 total assists on the night on 21 made baskets (71.4 percent). In 11 games this season, the Demon Deacons have totaled 191 assists on 282 field goals (67.7 percent) which would mark the highest percentage in the Megan Gebbia era.
The Deacs did an excellent job of moving the ball last season, as they assisted on 394 of 667 made baskets this season (59.1 pct.). This was the highest assist percentage in the Gebbia era and the assist percentage ranks in the top 70 percent in the nation according to HerHoopStats.
In 2023-24, the Deacs assisted 404 of 694 made field goals (58.2 percent).
Forcing Them Over
The Deacs forced the Hoyas into 17 turnovers on Sunday, and have forced 10 or more takeaways 78 times in the last 82 games, a stretch dating back to January of 2022.
Through 11 games, the Demon Deacons have forced 15.6 turnovers per game.
Owning the Paint
The Demon Deacons had another excellent game in the paint, with 32 points posted inside, while allowing Georgetown to score 18 points in the paint, a 14-point differential.
Across 11 games, the Deacs have totaled 420 points in the paint (38.2 per game).
Sharpshooting Deacs
Wake Forest knocked back five threes against Georgetown, with four Demon Deacons contributing to the total. So far this season, the Deacs have knocked down 62 threes.
The Deacs finished the 2024-25 season knocking down 159 threes (5.5 3FGM per game). This included seven games with eight or more threes made.

- The Demon Deacons, who were down 15 points early in the second quarter, outscored the Yellow Jackets by a margin of 35-26 in the middle quarters and took the lead for the first time in the fourth.
- For the eighth-consecutive game, sophomore guard Rylie Theuerkauf reached double figures with 20 points against the Yellow Jackets on 9-of-16 shooting and a pair of threes. She has three 20-point outings in the last six games and this marked her 16th game of the season with double-digit points.
