Sarajian became the eighth player in program history to be taken in the top five and first since Calvin Harris and Michael DeShields went second and fifth, respectively, in 2021

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – For the 10th time in the last 11 years, the Wake Forest men's soccer program saw multiple players selected in the MLS SuperDraft, as standouts Harvey Sarajian and Tate Lorentz both got the call Thursday afternoon.

Sarajian was selected with the fifth overall pick by Orlando City SC before CF Montreal took Lorentz in the third round with the 63rd pick.

"I am so happy for the guys," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "They deserve to be recognized for their hard work, effort, talents and development within the program since arriving at Wake Forest."

The Naples, Fla.-native is the fifth Wake Forest player selected in the top five under head coach Bobby Muuss, joining elite company in Jack Harrison (2016), Jon Bakero (2018), Calvin Harris (2021) and Michael DeShields (2021). Additionally, Sarajian is the 11th first-round selection during that span.

Overall, Muuss and the rest of the Demon Deacon coaching staff has developed 26 MLS SuperDraft selections since 2016.

With this year's MLS SuperDraft, a player who is drafted by a league club and has remaining college eligibility will have the option to return to school and further their development, but will not be draft-eligible in the future.

A selected player who elects to go back to college will have their SuperDraft Priority held by the drafting club for approximately two years following the SuperDraft, culminating on December 31 of the second year.

Harvey Sarajian | Orlando City SC | Round 1, Pick 5
Joining the program in January, the Naples, Fla.-native appeared in all 17 matches with 15 starts, logging 887 minutes on the pitch throughout the season across the front three. Sarajian entered the year with national preseason recognition, earning spots on the United Soccer Coaches' Midfielders to Watch list and TopDrawerSoccer's Top 100 Players list (No. 38). He consistently created danger in the midfield with his speed and physicality, impacting matches on both sides of the ball.

Sarajian produced several key moments throughout the campaign. He tabbed his first Wake Forest goal against Liberty with a beautiful strike (Sept. 22). He logged a hard-earned assist in the 2-1 road win at Cal, earning team Man of the Match honors (Oct. 11) before tallying his first ACC goal in a 1-1 draw at Pitt (Oct. 24). He also added an assist in the first round of the ACC Tournament at SMU (Nov. 5).

Sarajian is the third Wake Forest player selected by Orlando, joining Joey DeZart (2020) and Andrew Pannenberg (2021).

Tate Lorentz | CF Montreal | Round 3, Pick 63
A native of Winston-Salem, Lorentz returned home in 2025 after two seasons at North Carolina and immediately broke out to be one of the most prolific players in the ACC with the Demon Deacons. He finished second on the team with six goals and five assists for 17 total points in his first season as a starter.

He scored his first-collegiate goal for the Deacs in the second match of the season with a header against Oral Roberts (Aug. 28). Two matches later, he scored and assisted in a 4-0 victory over Lipscomb.

The hometown hero didn't slow down, as he recorded four goals and two assists in a four-game span from Sept. 16-Sept. 26, including a brace and an assist against UNCW before scoring his first ACC goal against rival Clemson.

Lorentz created massive goals against Wofford and Notre Dame late in the year and joined a select few in the ACC to record five-plus goals and five-plus assists.

He is just the second Demon Deacon taken by the Montreal franchise, with the only other coming in 2013 (Luciano Delbono).

Of note, this is the second-consecutive draft that Wake Forest had a Winston-Salem native selected with Liam O'Gara selected by Real Salt Lake a year ago.
