No. 1 Demon Deacons Set For Pair of Road ACC Matches

Wake Forest is one of just two ACC schools that remain unbeaten in conference play.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – As one of the two ACC schools that remain unbeaten in conference play, the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team will head south for a pair of matches against Clemson and Georgia Tech on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The Demon Deacons (26-0, 8-0 ACC) will open the weekend against the Tigers (17-3, 6-2 ACC) on Friday at 5 p.m. before heading to Atlanta to meet the Yellow Jackets (12-6, 5-3 ACC) for a 12 p.m. first serve on Sunday. Georgia Tech will host NC State on Friday

Historic Season
The Demon Deacons are in the midst of their best start in program history, with 26-consecutive wins to open the season surpassing the previous record of 14 set by the 2018 National Championship team. Wake Forest is also a combined 85-26 in singles and 49-9 in doubles so far this season, taking 25 of 26 doubles points.
Additionally, Wake Forest owns wins over eight teams currently ranked inside the top 10 of the ITA poll, including No. 2-No. 6.

Last Time Out
Staying perfect during the 2025 campaign, the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team earned a road victory over Louisville, 4-1, Sunday afternoon inside the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Demon Deacons took the doubles point for the 25th time in 26 matches and carried the momentum into singles.
The graduate pairing of Ioannis Xilas and Franco Capalbo continued to be a reliable duo for the Deacs, as they defeated Avenado/Mayew, 6-4, in third doubles. They are now the second Wake Forest pair to reach double-digit wins together this season, along with sophomore Luca Pow and senior Luciano Tacchi (13).
Junior DK Suresh Ekambaram and freshman Charlie Robertson clinched the doubles point for the Demon Deacons following a clutch, 7-5 victory on court one over Nakanishi/Steinbach. Robertson and Suresh are now 7-1 together this season.
In singles, Robertson was the first to take a court with a dominant 6-4, 6-1 win on court three against Andre Steinbach. It marked his third-consecutive singles win and fifth overall for the Deacs.
After the Cardinals took court one, Xilas responded on court two with a 6-2, 6-3 over Nathan Rodrigues for his 15th win of the season and sixth while competing in second singles. His 15 wins rank second on the team.
The team-leader in wins, Pow, added another to his tally as he took down Kosuke Nakanishi (6-4, 6-3) on court four to clinch the match for Wake Forest. The Englishman has now won 19 matches this season, including 14 in a row and a 6-0 record against ACC opponents.

The Bresky Era
Since arriving at Wake Forest, head coach Tony Bresky has enjoyed a decorated career, winning ITA National Coach of the Year in 2018, along with garnering ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2013 and 2016. Additionally, Bresky has been tabbed ITA Regional Coach of the Year on five occasions (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2024). Of note, Bresky led Wake Forest to its first-ever national title in 2018, after accumulating a 33-2 mark. Most recently, he led Wake Forest to its second ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
Individually, Bresky has coached two ACC Players of the Year (Noah Rubin and Melios Efstathiou), along with 35 All-ACC selections and 10 ITA Singles All-Americans.
During his tenure at Wake Forest, Bresky has amassed 355 wins. Of note, early in 2023 with a victory over No. 6 Tennessee, Bresky became the winningest coach in program history, surpassing the legendary Jim Leighton.

Bresky's teams have also excelled in the classroom during his stint in Winston-Salem, as he's coached 22 All-ACC Academic Team honorees and an ACC Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year.
