Griff Gets Going
Making a mechanical adjustment prior to the Virginia Tech series, reliever Griffin Green was dominant over 3.0 innings against the Hokies. The righty struck out two batters in the seventh, eighth and ninth inning. Green has worked at least one inning without allowing an earned run in 10 of his 15 appearances out of the pen for Wake Forest, including four-straight with a scoreless inning against FSU, UNCG and Coastal.
Woah Nelly
Returning from a broken finger during the early part of spring camp, sophomore Cam Nelson has been a welcome addition to the lineup, hitting .378 since his return, while reaching base at a .511 clip. Nelson went 3-for-4 at the plate, finishing a triple away from the cycle in the series finale at Florida State. His homer in the fourth marked his first career home run. The Baltimore, Md. native added three hits and three RBI in the leadoff spot against High Point, including a two-RBI double. Over the last 10 games, Nelson leads Wake Forest at the plate, having gone 13-for-33 with six extra-base hits, including the first home run of his career.
