Deacs Ready for Postseason Play at ACC Championship

The Demon Deacons are in search of their 20th ACC Championship in program history.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky- The Wake Forest men's golf team is set to begin postseason play on Thursday at the ACC Championship held at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. For the first time in conference history, the ACC Men's Golf Championship will be held in the Bluegrass State. 

The Demon Deacons will look to continue their rich tradition of competing for championships as the Deacs have won 19 ACC titles while also having a league-best 24 individual champions at the tournament.

Last season, the Deacs nearly advanced to the championship round of the ACC Championship, falling to North Carolina 3-2. 

In the fall, the Deacs claimed their first title of the 2024-25 season, winning the Lyon's Links Invitational by twelve strokes in Dublin, Ireland. This was the 46th win under the direction of head coach Jerry Haas. The Deacs finished the final round 31-under-par, turning in a 54-hole score of 833 and tying for ninth lowest 54-hole score to par in program history. 

Additionally, Wake Forest has finished within the top-5 in seven events across the 2024-25 season.

The ACC Championship is five days, teeing off on Thursday, April 24th and concluding Monday April 28th. Wake Forest will be paired with Clemson and Cal in the opening round, beginning at 11:17 a.m. ET. 

A History of Champions

In the 70 ACC Championships that have been held, the Deacs have accounted for a third of the individual titles, the most in conference history.

Scoring average of 71.26…Currently ranked 27th in the PGA Tour University rankings… At the General James Hackler Championship, Kennon recorded a six-under 210 to finish tied for seventh place. Additionally, this is the senior's fifth top-ten finish this season.…Kennon claimed his second collegiate title at the 54th Furman Invitational with a score of 202 (-11), the lowest 54-hole score in the history of the tournament…

Marshall Meisel

Scoring average of  71.93…Currently ranked 42nd in the PGA Tour University rankings… In his outing at the Battle at Briars Creek, Meisel shot three under-par rounds of 71-69-70 to finish the tournament tied for fourth at 6-under par, just one stroke short of the individual lead. This was the Chevy Chase, Md. native's second top-five finish of his senior season, and second of his career…

Jakob Melin

Scoring average of  72.57… In his outing at the General James Hackler Championship, Melin went on a tear in his final round, tallying six birdies on the day to finish with a four-under 68. Melin picked up his best finish this spring, and second-best career finish as a Demon Deacon, tying for 13th place at four-under…

Collin Adams

Scoring average of 72.57…At the Battle at Briars Creek, Adams finished in 23rd place, posting two under-par rounds……Playing as an individual at the Furman Invitational, senior Collin Adams recorded a season best finish, holding a share of tenth place at three-under…

Tom Haberer

Scoring average of 72.74…Claimed third top-20 finish of his sophomore career at the Colleton River Collegiate carding his best round in the final round at even par. Haberer led in the 80 player field in scoring on par fours over three rounds…

The first round of the championship will start on Thursday at 10 a.m., with both the second and third rounds on Friday and Saturday to start at 10 a.m. as well. The match play quarterfinals on Sunday will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the semifinal set for later that day at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday's match-play final is scheduled for 11 a.m.
