Coach Megan Gebbia and the Wake Forest women’s basketball team announced the addition of transfer guard Raven Preston who was the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was named to the All-CAA.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest women's basketball team and head coach Megan Gebbia announced the addition of redshirt junior guard Raven Preston Monday, who is transferring from Elon.

This brings the total number of incoming players for the upcoming season to five as the Demon Deacons also announced the signing of four freshman additions during the early signing period in November.

Preston, who has two years of eligibility remaining, adds a veteran presence to the backcourt along with returning starting point guard Aurora Sørbye as well as guard/forward and rising junior Madisyn Jordan.

During her time at Elon, Preston has averaged 11.8 points per game in her first two seasons on the floor, scoring 530 total points. Additionally, she has averaged a near double-double over the course of her career, pulling down an average of 8.7 rebounds per game in her 45 career games.

Preston, who was the 2023 CAA Rookie of the Year and All-CAA in 2025, was also named the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year this season, maintaining a 3.85 GPA as an exercise science major while leading the Phoenix to the CAA Championship game.

She missed the 2023-24 season due to injury and redshirted.

Why Wake Forest
"I chose Wake Forest because it's the perfect place to grow as both an athlete and a student. I'll be surrounded by great people who will challenge and support me. The competitive environment, prestigious academics, and strong culture made my decision easy. I'm excited to be part of a program that will push me to reach my full potential on and off the court." - Raven Preston

From Coach Gebbia
"Raven is someone who in the identification process we thought would be a great fit for our system on the wing. She has an innate ability to impact the game in so many different ways and makes plays that really help win games. She has a great form on her shot that allows her to get her shot off quickly, but she is also adept at getting to the rim when the defense gives that to her. Raven has a knack for the basketball and for her size has been an elite rebounder, averaging nearly nine rebounds per game over the course of her career. She is also someone who will fit into the academic course load well here at Wake Forest as she was named the CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year this season while also being an all-conference performer on the court. Raven also adds to our local connections in the area, growing up in Greensboro and having plenty of family in the area. We are excited to integrate her into our system and pair her abilities up with our other guards next season." - Megan Gebbia
