The Demon Deacons will host either Texas A&M or Baylor next Friday, May 9 at 5 p.m.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C – For the second-consecutive season, the top-seeded Wake Forest men's tennis team has advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals following its 4-1 victory over Kentucky Saturday evening at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.

With the win, the Demon Deacons (36-1) have now reached the Sweet 16 eight times since 2015, including three of the past four seasons. Wake Forest also extended the program record for wins in a season after surpassing the 2019 team (34) with Friday night's victory over Gardner-Webb.

The Deacs will now await the winner of No. 16 seed Texas A&M and Baylor. They will welcome the Aggies or Bears to Winston-Salem for the Super Regional next Friday, May 9 at 5 p.m., with the winner advancing to the NCAA Championships in Waco.

Additionally, the win over the No. 32-ranked Wildcats marked the 20th ranked victory of the season for Wake Forest.

Playing together for the fifth time, graduate student Stefan Dostanic and freshman Charlie Robertson downed Ghibaudo/Weekes, 6-3, on court two. The two newcomers are perfect (5-0) as a pair and a combined 30-3 in doubles this season overall.

After dropping the doubles point for just the third time this season, Wake Forest bounced back in singles with wins on courts two, three, four and six.

Sophomore Luca Pow picked up a dominant 6-3, 6-1 win over Matt Rankin on court six. He leads the team with 28 singles wins this season and holds an incredible 54-5 mark over his two-year career with the Demon Deacons.

With his 7-6 (9-7), 6-1 win over No. 59 Jack Loutit in second singles, junior DK Suresh Ekambaram notched his 17th win of the season and put the Deacs in front. It marked Suresh's ninth ranked win of the spring, which leads the team.

After falling for the first time in over two months yesterday, freshman Charlie Robertson bounced back with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Charlelie Cosnet on court four. This brought his record to 11-7 on the year and 8-1 since the start of ACC play.

Xilas clinched the match for Wake Forest as he took down No. 78 Jaden Weekes (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) on court three. The Greek ranks second on the team with 18 singles wins this season behind only Pow (28). It marked his sixth win of the year over a ranked opponent.

The Demon Deacons are now 125-37 in singles this campaign and 71-19 in doubles. Additionally, Wake Forest improved to 6-3 all-time against Kentucky dating back to 2006.

From Coach Bresky
"Kentucky's an excellent team, they were top-10 in the country to start the year for a reason so we knew it was kind of a tough draw. It felt a little unlucky having to move indoors, but I think that's just part of the NCAA tournament. You just have to deal with what's in front of you. We lost a very tough doubles point and whenever you do that, it makes it interesting. I felt like we learned a lot from our loss at the ACC tournament. The boys are tough and they left it all out there on every court. I was really impressed with their fight and I'm excited to move on. We will have another great team coming our way next weekend and we'll be up for the battle. I also want to thank the fans. We couldn't do it without them. They're unbelievable and they help us through things."
