Blake Morningstar Invited to USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Camp

Morningstar becomes the 10th Demon Deacon in the last four seasons to be invited to the national team’s training camp in Cary, N.C. and marks the first time in program history that Wake Forest has had invitees in four-straight years.
CARY, N.C. – After a breakout sophomore season, All-ACC starting pitcher Blake Morningstar has received an invite to the 2025 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, as announced by the organization on Monday morning.
Morningstar's ERA went from 7.45 as a freshman to 3.87 this year, while holding hitters to just a .235 average against over 79.0 innings.
The Wyalusing, Pa. native finished with a 6-2 record on the season, well surpassing his win total last year.
In 14 starts, he allowed over three earned runs in just three, and had four quality starts on the season, including a trio in ACC play.
Morningstar earned his sixth win of the year with a gritty 6.2 innings at Louisville, striking out seven.
The righty allowed just two hits with four strikeouts in a designated 4.0 inning start against Gardner-Webb.
Against Pitt, Morningstar allowed just two earned runs over 6.0 innings with six punchouts.
He allowed just one earned run over 5.0 innings against Stanford, striking out six Cardinal hitters.
The sophomore worked five strong innings, allowing just three runs with eight strikeouts against Florida State.
Morningstar had the best outing of his career, collecting a career-high 10 strikeouts over a career-long 7.0 innings against Virginia Tech. The righty retired 10-straight Hokies, allowing just two runs on five hits.
He punched out 22 batters over a three-game span, allowing just one earned run over 15.1 IP, including at least seven in each, and had a then-career-high eight punchouts against Notre Dame.

The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp will feature 56 of the premier non-draft-eligible college players for a five-game Stars vs. Stripes intrasquad series in North Carolina from June 29-July 3. USA Baseball will name the final Collegiate National Team following Training Camp on July 3.
The first game will be held at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis at 5:35 p.m. ET, the next three games will be played at USA Baseball's National Training Complex in Cary at 6:30 p.m. ET, and the series finale will be hosted at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville at 6:35 p.m. ET. The Collegiate National Team will play in the 45th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series in various locations across Japan on July 8-13. The remaining players from the Collegiate National Team Training Camp will play in a Fourth of July game against the Appalachian League Select Team at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis at 6:35 p.m. ET.
