The Demon Deacons have had at least one women’s golfer selected every year since the tournament’s inception in 2018.
CONGAREE, S.C. - Two Demon Deacons are set to represent Wake Forest at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup at the Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, S.C., from June 5-7. Senior Carolina Chacarra returns to Team International for the second time in her career, while sophomore Macy Pate marks her first start at the Palmer Cup representing Team USA.
This past season, Chacarra led the team with a 70.88 scoring average and two individual wins, one of which came at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, which helped secure the team title and a trip to the NCAA Championship. The four-time All-American was also named a finalist for the ANNIKA Award and the recipient of the 2025 Juli Inkster Award in her final season at Wake Forest.
Winston-Salem native Macy Pate is set for her first appearance at the Palmer Cup, following a successful sophomore season. A member of the 2025 All-ACC Team, her 2024-25 season was highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Charles Schwab Women's Fall Collegiate, as well as a top-10 finish at the ACC Championship.
In her second year at Wake Forest, Pate debuted at the Augusta Women's National Amateur, alongside veteran Chacarra, who made her fifth start. Both athletes wrapped their seasons at the NCAA Championship, where Wake Forest made their seventh consecutive championship appearance.
Chacarra is one of four Spanish players selected for Team International, of which Spain leads in country selections. Pate joins the ranks of former Deacon greats Rachel Kuehn, Emilia Migliaccio, and Jennifer Kupcho to represent the United States.
About the Arnold Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of
America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players. The Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world's greatest courses, including The Old Course at St. Andrews, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course, Cherry Hills, and Lahinch.
Beginning with the 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club, the Palmer Cup is the only major tournament that features men and women playing side-by-side as partners.
