Bye joins the Demon Deacons after working with the Guardians, Dodgers and Astros of the MLB.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest baseball and head coach Tom Walter announced the addition of Ezra Bye as the program's new Pitching Lab Coordinator and Director of Player Development.
Bye brings a wealth of professional baseball experience to Winston-Salem, having held pitching development roles with three of Major League Baseball's most innovative organizations in the Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Houston Astros.
In his most recent position with the Cleveland Guardians, Bye served as an Assistant in Pitching Development and Analysis, working directly with Double-A and High-A pitchers and contributing to front-office research and player development initiatives.
Prior to that, he was the Rehab Pitching Coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he led the design of a new velocity-based interval throwing program for surgical rehab pitchers, five of whom went on to reach career-best velocity marks the following season.
Bye's tenure with the Houston Astros included roles as a Rehab Pitching Coach, DSL Pitching Coach, and Pitching Apprentice. His work with the Astros involved integrating cutting-edge tech tools such as 4D Motion, Hawkeye, Catapult, Pulse sensors, and Trackman into the rehab and development process, including the creation of custom apps and dashboards to track progress.
A former psychology major and magna cum laude graduate of Chestnut Hill College, Bye also holds multiple certifications, including NSCA-CSCS, Precision Nutrition, Reflexive Performance Reset and Functional Range Conditioning.
