Seymour becomes the 47th Demon Deacon to reach the big leagues and the 13th during head coach Tom Walter’s tenure.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After bashing 30 home runs at the Triple-A level this season, Bobby Seymour will make his major league debut on Friday, as the Tampa Bay Rays selected the contract of Seymour on Friday.

"I am beyond thrilled for Bob and his family," said head coach Tom Walter. "His perseverance and resilience is a testament to his character and his passion for the game. The Rays just got better on the field, in the dugout and in the clubhouse. Bob is a gamer and will make some noise immediately for the organization."

The development of players under Walter looms large, as Seymour becomes the 13th player to reach the league under his tutelage and the 10th in the last four years.

He joins Tim Cooney (Apr. 30, 2015), Mac Williamson (Sept. 23, 2015), Will Craig (Aug. 27, 2020), Gavin Sheets (June 29, 2021), Stuart Fairchild (July 6, 2021), Nate Mondou (Oct. 4, 2022), Jared Shuster (Apr. 2, 2023), Parker Dunshee (Aug. 8, 2024), Rhett Lowder (Aug. 30, 2024), Shane Smith (Apr. 1, 2025), Nick Kurtz (Apr. 23, 2025) and Chase Burns (June 24, 2025).
