No. 19 Demon Deacons to Face USF in Second-Ever Meeting

The teams last met at Spry Stadium on Sept. 15, 2019.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Looking to preserve its unbeaten home record, No. 19 Wake Forest women's soccer returns to Spry Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 28 for a late-night showdown against the USF Bulls.
The contest is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. following the conclusion of the men's match and will be streamed live on ACCNX with live stats available here.

Fans can catch all of Demon Deacon home action this fall as well by purchasing combo season tickets to see both men's and women's soccer starting as low as $90 for general admission and $180 for reserved chairbacks for fans and $150 for Wake Forest University faculty and staff.

Last Time Out
- The Bulldogs battled the Deacons early and registered the first shot of the contest at the sixth minute, but sent it wide of the net.
- They maintained heavy possession during the early stages of the match, however defenders Dempsey Brown and Laine DeNatale both made crucial defensive plays to clear the ball from the box.
- Mississippi State continued to pressure the Deacs with the first shot on goal of the game at the 21st minute, but redshirt sophomore Valentina Amaral covered the ball swiftly.
- In the 25th minute, Amaral made another diving save to keep the Bulldogs off the board.
- The Dawgs took the 1-0 lead during the 30th minute; however, the Demon Deacons would find the answer before the half.
- Freshman Allie Flanagan notched her first collegiate goal in the 41st minute with a wide-open net.
- The Deacs entered the half tied 1-1.
- Wake Forest began the second half with back-to-back corners as they looked to take over the lead.
- Brown made a key defensive block to prevent the Bulldogs' attack from attempting a shot in the ensuing minutes.
- Freshman Elliana Ramirez tested the State keeper in the 53rd minute to keep the pressure on the Dawgs.
- Amaral once again held the contest even with an impressive diving save in the 68th minute.
- The Week One ACC Defensive Player of the Week recorded a season-high four saves and faced a career-high 15 shots during the contest.
- Mississippi State took the lead off a free kick in the 71st minute.
- Wake Forest ultimately fell on the road, 2-1.
- Senior Hannah Johnson made her first appearance this season.
- Sophomore Lola Ressler made her fifth career appearance.

- The lone goal was scored by American Conference Midfielder of the Year, Sadie Sider-Eichenberg. The senior recorded five goals, including four game winners, and tallied 12 points on the season, earning her All-Conference First Team honors.
- They wrapped their previous season with a 12-2-5 overall record and were picked second in their conference in preseason polls.
- Senior Gentiana Fetaj notched the singular tally during the Bulls' 1-3 loss at No. 12 South Carolina. Fetaj was second on the team during the 2024 season in points with three goals, six assists, and 17 SOGs.
- A native of Minden, Germany, she earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch list for midfielders.
- Starting in net for USF is senior Leire Herraez Gallacha, who finished the 2024 season with a .391 goals against average, the fourth best in the NCAA. The defending American Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, Gallacha tallied 11 shutouts and recorded an 87.7 save percentage for the Bulls.
- The 2025 roster boasts a strong international presence, featuring 13 players from six different countries, including two athletes who earned national team selections for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
- Of the remaining roster, 12 players are from the state of Florida.
- Head Coach Chris Brown enters his eighth season as a head coach with an 81-46-21 overall record and enters his third season at USF with a 13-5-5 record.
