No. 20 Wake Forest Opens ACC Play with Pair of Ranked Opponents

The Demon Deacons have outscored their opponents 20-2 over their current four-game win streak.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 20 Wake Forest field hockey team opens Atlantic Coast Conference play with a pair of top-15 matchups this weekend, traveling to face No. 4 Syracuse on Friday before returning home to Kentner Stadium for a Sunday contest against No. 13 Boston College.
The Demon Deacons (4-2) enter the weekend in strong form, having won four consecutive matches while outscoring their opponents 20-2 during that span. Head coach Jen Averill's squad has displayed a potent attack paired with a defense that has held opponents to just five shots per game during the streak.
Wake Forest opens the weekend on the road at No. 4 Syracuse (6-0) on Friday, Sept. 19. First touch at J.S. Coyne Stadium is set for 5 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
The Deacs then return home to Kentner Stadium on Sunday to host No. 13 Boston College (3-3). The match will air nationally on ACC Network with a noon first touch.
