1/29/2026 6:51:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The Demon Deacons finished the game with the most points they have ever scored in an ACC game, tallying 103 including a career-high 30-point double-double performance from freshman guard Milan Brown.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In its most points scored since 2019 and the most points the Demon Deacons have ever scored in an ACC contest, the Wake Forest women's basketball team fell in triple overtime to Virginia, 109-103, Thursday afternoon at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Wake Forest (12-10, 2-8, ACC) recorded its best offensive performance of the Megan Gebbia era against the Cavaliers (15-6, 7-3 ACC), surpassing its previous best of 102 points against Queens in the 2024-25 season opener:

Additionally, the Demon Deacons produced a season-high 36 field goals made and 71 field goal attempts.
Thursday marked the third triple-overtime game in program history and first in 23 years. The last game occurred on Feb. 2, 2003 in a 62-60 loss at Florida State.
The Deacs were led by freshman guard Milan Brown, as she recorded her second career double double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Brown also holds the teams' first double-double of the season, which came during the season-opener against Radford.
Also tabbing a career high, freshman guard Caitlyn Jones shot a team-best .727 field goal percentage and totaled 18 points to contribute to the Deacs' offensive performance. Sophomore forward Grace Oliver shot 6-for-7 from the stripe and 3-for-5 from downtown, totaling 19 points, five rebounds and four assists.
How It Happened
"This is a tough one. I am happy with our effort and the way we battled to get back into this one. We showed a lot of heart and toughness. We beat ourselves in the first half with turnovers, some scout miscues and some rebounding things. It was a completely different feeling going into overtime than earlier in the year. There are things to learn, turnovers in the first half and free throws in overtime. It doesn't come down to one or two plays but the full game. This was a long game and some nuances that we can continue to learn from especially in late game situations. This is a really talented team that we played and this is the same effort and execution that we should expect throughout the rest of the season. This is a huge step forward from Saturday and we need to keep pushing to get over the hump." - Megan Gebbia
