This will be the final match before the ITA National Indoor Championships taking place Feb. 13-17 in Texas.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In a battle of collegiate tennis powerhouses, the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team will travel to Columbus to take on No. 6-ranked Ohio State Sunday afternoon inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
First serve against the Buckeyes is slated for 2 p.m. eastern time. A live stream of the match will be provided via Ohio State's website, while live results can be found here.
Last season, Wake Forest went 10-1 against top-10 opposition and have already notched one this campaign (No. 4 Texas). Additionally, the Demon Deacons finished the historic 2025 campaign with a record-breaking 25 total ranked victories.
While the Buckeyes hold the overall series lead, the Demon Deacons ended a seven-match skid to the Big Ten school last season with a thrilling 4-3 home win. Wake Forest will also look to secure its first ever road win in the series.
The two programs have seen similar starts to the 2026 campaign, with both headed into Sunday with a perfect record, a win over top-five Texas and have booked a ticket to the ITA National Indoor Championships. Additionally, Ohio State has not lost at home indoors since Jan. 23, 2021.
The Demon Deacons will take a 17-match away winning streak into the match following a perfect 2025 campaign (10-0) in true road tests. Since 2013, Wake Forest has recorded the second-most overall wins in the country (362) and only trails Ohio State.
Hot Start
The Demon Deacons have opened the 2026 campaign with a combined 22-2 record in singles and 11-2 mark in doubles, which has seen them take five of the first six doubles points this season. Sophomore Joaquin Guilleme leads the team with five singles wins followed by Luca Pow and Mees Rottgering at four apiece. Additionally, 10 different Wake Forest players have already recorded at least one win.
ACC Weekly Honors
Through just three weeks of the season, the Demon Deacons have already been honored with ACC weekly awards twice.
After the first weekend, Pow and Rottgering won ACC Doubles Team of the Week following a pair of 6-2 victories. They first defeated Bezzaz/Ruy of Saint Joseph's before following it up with a win over Listo/Luethi of ETSU.
Two weeks later, Rottgeting claimed ACC Freshman of the Week honors with a perfect week that featured three singles victories — all in straight sets — while helping power the Demon Deacons to multiple top-tier wins. His week was highlighted by a 6-3, 7-6(3) ranked win over No. 25 Sebastian Eriksson of Texas that clinched the 4-2 road victory over the No. 4 Longhorns.
Last Time Out
Continuing one of the most dominant stretches in collegiate tennis history, the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team booked its ticket back to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with a 4-0 victory over Vanderbilt last Saturday afternoon inside the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
The Deacs dominated the doubles point from the jump as they quickly took courts one and three for the fifth opening point in six matches this season.
On court three, junior Luca Pow and freshman Mees Rottgering defeated Cox/Coquelin, 6-1. The two lead the team with three wins as a duo this season as Pow picked up his 75th-career doubles win as a Demon Deacon.
Not long after, senior DK Suresh Ekambaram and sophomore Charlie Robertson gave Wake Forest the lead with a 6-1 victory over Martinez Gomez/Roh and improved to 12-2 overall as a pair in match play. With the result, Suresh is now tied with Todd Paul (2003-07) for the 10th most doubles wins in program history at 84.
With the doubles point secured, Wake Forest carried its momentum into singles play, quickly putting pressure on the Commodores across the lineup and claimed courts three, four and six.
Coming into the day having clinched the last two matches against Texas and Virginia Tech, freshman Mees Rottgering wrapped up a stellar week with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jack Satterfield on court four. He finished this week with four wins without losing a single set.
Continuing one of the most dominant collegiate careers in the country, junior Luca Pow improved to 4-0 this campaign with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Danil Panarin on court three. He is now 82-16 as a Demon Deacon over the last three years with nine-consecutive wins and has taken 30 of his last 31.
After a quick and dominant 6-0, 6-1 win against Virginia Tech, sophomore Joaquin Guilleme returned to the court and clinched the match as he took down No. 94 Hugo Coquelin in sixth singles, 7-6(2), 6-1. He is now a team-best 5-0 this spring and an incredible 14-0 overall in collegiate dual matches. This also marked the first ranked victory of his career.
This marked just the second meeting between the Demon Deacons and Commodores since the turn of the century and first since Wake Forest earned a 4-3 home victory in 2018. Additionally, this was the third SEC opponent the Deacs defeated that week alone with wins over Tennessee and Texas on Sunday and Wednesday, respectively.
The Demon Deacons extended their home match winning streak to 32 following a flawless 2025 campaign at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.

Bresky led Wake Forest to its first-ever national title in 2018, after accumulating a 33-2 mark and most recently led one of the most dominant seasons in collegiate tennis history as the Deacs won 40 matches en route to capturing the ACC regular season title, ITA Indoor Title and NCAA Championship.
Individually, Bresky has coached two ACC Players of the Year (Noah Rubin and Melios Efstathiou), along with 40 All-ACC selections and 12 ITA Singles All-Americans.

Wake Forest's Team Success Under Bresky
Bresky's teams have also excelled in the classroom during his stint in Winston-Salem, as he's coached 27 All-ACC Academic Team honorees and an ACC Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Next Up
After Sunday, the Demon Deacons will be making their fifth-consecutive appearance at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, which is once again being hosted by Baylor (Waco) and SMU (Dallas) and will run from Feb. 13-17.
Wake Forest will look to become just the sixth team in history to win the indoor team title on three occasions following triumphs in 2018 and 2025. The Deacs could also become the eighth team to claim the crown in back-to-back seasons and the second team to do so as a member of the ACC.
