2/23/2026 5:28:00 PM | Baseball
The Demon Deacons are riding a six-game win streak, sweeping Siena this past weekend.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 16 Wake Forest baseball team takes on UNCG on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Wake Forest's first true road test of the 2026 season. First pitch from UNCG Baseball Stadium is set for 5 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
The two squads have split the last four games in the series, with the home team coming out on top in each matchup over the past two seasons.
Wake Forest last beat the Spartans in Greensboro during the historic 2023 season, coming away with a 20-2 victory over UNCG during the first midweek of the year.
Pitching Matchup
So. RHP Cameron Bagwell (0-0, 5.79 ERA) vs. R-Fr. RHP Isaac Miles (1-0, 2.25 ERA)
Bullish Bullpen
The Wake bullpen has been one of the strongest in the country so far, with a 1.64 ERA in 33.0 innings of relief through the first seven games. The bullpen alone has struck out 60 batters, which outpaces 157 other D1 programs total strikeouts between both starters and relievers.
Strike Early. Strike Often.
One of the keys to the Deacs' success over the last five years has been scoring first, as Wake Forest has gone 115-35-1 in games where they got on the board first since the 2022 season. Under head coach Tom Walter, Wake is 324-128-1 when scoring first, including a 4-0 mark to start the 2026 campaign.
On Fire in February
Over the past five seasons, the Deacs are 40-3 in the opening month of play, going 9-1 in 2025, 7-1 in 2024, 10-0 in 2023 and 8-0 in 2022. During that stretch, Wake Forest has outscored its opponents by a 472 to 125 margin (8.07 runs per game).
DEACTOWN Charlotte
Building on the previously announced 2027 Wake Forest football matchup with Notre Dame inside Bank of America Stadium, Wake Forest Athletics continues to strengthen its regional ties to Charlotte as the Demon Deacons baseball program will head to the Queen City to take on Clemson in a showdown at Truist Field on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
