Last Time Out (vs. NC State)
For the fifth time in program history and second-consecutive season, the No. 7-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team has secured a share of the ACC regular season title following its 4-0 victory over Big Four rival NC State last Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Since 2017, Wake Forest's five regular season crowns are tied for the most in the conference with Virginia. Overall, this is the 12th trophy won by head coach Tony Bresky over the last 10 years as his squad will look to add to that total in the postseason.
Additionally, the Demon Deacons have a 25-1 conference record over the last two seasons and have now logged 128 conference victories since the start of the 2013 campaign, good for second during that span. The Demon Deacons also extended their nation-leading home match winning streak to 46 with Saturday's victory. Since 2013, Wake Forest has the most home wins (242) in the county and the second-most overall wins (383).
The Deacs now hold a 48-12 record against NC State and have won 12 of the last 13 meetings dating back to 2017.
The Deacs took the opening point for the 27th time this season and for the 18th consecutive match, including all 13 in ACC play, with wins on courts one and two.
On his senior day, DK Suresh Ekambaram paired up with redshirt freshman Andrew Delgado, now the No. 2-ranked doubles pair in the country, and stayed perfect on the year following a dominant 6-2 victory over Benton/Sabaliauskas on court one.
With the win, Suresh is now alone for fourth in program history in career doubles wins as he surpassed Steven Foreman (2007-10) and sits at 95. Additionally, Delgado is now 16-0 overall in doubles this spring to go along with a 7-0 singles mark.
After the Wolfpack claimed court three, the doubles point would come down to sophomore Kacper Szymkowiak and freshman Mees Rottgering as the No. 88-ranked duo earned an exciting doubles win on court two over Leroux/Manning (7-6[4]). The two are now 9-0 together this campaign with all nine wins coming in conference play.
In singles, the Demon Deacons took five of six first sets and set the tone for the rest of the match. Wins on courts four, five and six secured the title.
The first Wake Forest player off the court was freshman standout Aryan Shah, who secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Cody Benton on court six. He now has seven wins in the Old Gold & Black with four of them coming against ACC foes.
Becoming the first Demon Deacon to reach 20 singles wins this spring, sophomore Joaquin Guilleme put the Deacs within one court from clinching as he downed Charlie Camus (6-4, 6-4) on court five. The Nicaraguan finished the ACC regular season with a stellar 9-2 record and played a major role in the team's second-straight title.
Similar to last year, sophomore Charlie Robertson did the clinching honors for the regular season title against NC State as he defeated Ainius Sabaliauskas, 7-6(4), 6-3 on court four. It marked his seventh win this season and the 19th of his collegiate career.
The Bresky Era
Since arriving at Wake Forest, head coach Tony Bresky has enjoyed a highly-decorated career, winning ITA National Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2025, along with garnering ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2013, 2016 and 2025.
Bresky led Wake Forest to its first-ever national title in 2018, after accumulating a 33-2 mark and most recently led one of the most dominant seasons in collegiate tennis history as the Deacs won 40 matches en route to capturing the ACC regular season title, ITA Indoor Title and NCAA Championship.
