Wake Forest Ends Regular Season at Duke Twilight

The Demon Deacons will now turn their attention to the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held on May 14-16 in Louisville, Ky.
DURHAM, N.C. – Highlighted by multiple top-15 finishes, the Wake Forest track and field team closed out its regular season at the Duke Twilight on Sunday night at Morris Williams Stadium.
Senior Elizabeth Whaley led the way for the Demon Deacons as she added another podium finish in the women's 1500 meters. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native clocked a time of 4:10.86 to earn a second-place finish.
Fellow senior Emma Douglass recorded one of her best meets of the outdoor season as she registered a seventh-place finish in the women's 800 meters after posting a season-best time of 2:04.62.
Meanwhile, sophomore Amy Weybrecht finished 15th in the women's 800 meters, logging a personal-best time of 2:05.69. Weybrecht has had an incredible sophomore campaign for the Deacs as she currently sits fourth all-time in program history after Sunday's performance.
On the men's side, senior Bryce Gilmore clocked a personal-best time of 3:42.08 to secure a 13th-place finish in the men's 1500 meters. Meanwhile, freshman Landon Pretre and graduate student Lucas Guerra posted season-best times in the 1500 meters, as Pretre crossed the finish line in 3:42.91 to place 19th, while Guerra posted a time of 3:43.58 to grab a top-25 result.
Freshman Max Cervi-Skinner closed out the evening with an incredible performance in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, taking home third place with a time of 8:50.00. With the result, the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, native now ranks fourth in Wake Forest history in the event.
