Wake Forest’s Bianca Rees-Gibbs Earns ACC Offensive Player of the Week

The freshman earns her first ACC accolade in a Deacon uniform.
CHARLOTTE – After a dominating offensive performance over the weekend, freshman forward Bianca Rees-Gibbs has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Rees-Gibbs has been a standout performer for the Wake Forest Field Hockey team since arriving to Winston-Salem.
The Bloemfontein, South Africa-native recorded her first career-hat trick this past Friday against VCU, lifting the squad to a 7-0 victory over the Rams. Two days later against App State, the freshman recorded a brace to help the Deacs to another shutout victory, 6-0.
During Wake's 4-1 start to the season, Rees-Gibbs has become an important offensive asset to the Deacs, finding the back of the cage in four of the five matches.
"Bianca is a crafty and competitive player who continues to look for ways to create opportunities for herself and teammates," said head coach Jen Averill. "This past weekend was her taking full advantage of her abilities."

The No. 4 ranked Wake Forest field hockey team will travel to Maryland to face Delaware on Friday at 4 p.m. ET and No. 5 Maryland on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.
