Alex Emery is entering his second season as the volunteer assistant coach with the Demon Deacons in 2015-16.
In his first season with the Deacs, he helped Wake Forest to a school-record 24 wins and the program's third all-time appearance in the Sweet 16. He also helped coach Noah Rubin to the ITA National Rookie, ACC Player and ACC Rookie of the Year awards. In his one season at Wake Forest, Rubin went to the NCAA Singles Championship title match before falling to Virginia's Ryan Shane.
Prior to coming to Wake Forest, Emery spent one season as the volunteer assistant coach at Drake. In his lone year with the Bulldogs, Emery helped Drake to Missouri Valley regular season and tournament titles. Drake was ranked as high as No. 30 in the nation, sweeping both Illinois State and Wichita State to win the conference tournament crown.
While at Drake, Emery also helped a trio of Bulldogs reach the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship, as one singles player and another doubles pairing competed in the 2014 NCAA Championship held at Georgia.
A four-year letterwinner at UAB, Emery was ranked in the top 30 in doubles his junior and senior seasons and led Conference USA with 31 singles victories his freshman campaign.
He graduated from UAB in 2011 with a degree in psychology and currently resides in Winston-Salem.
