A 2019 program alum, Anna Ulyashchenko was named the program’s newest assistant coach on Aug. 15, 2023.
The Deacs recorded 15 wins throughout the 2025 spring season and have now earned double-digit victories in 11 consecutive seasons (excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 season). Two of the 15 victories came against ranked teams. Wake Forest also secured a victory over SMU in the first round of the ACC Tournament. Individually, the Demon Deacons were led by junior Nevena Carton, who led the team with 13 singles victories, including three victories over ranked opponents. In total, Wake Forest had four players record double-digit wins on the season. Meanwhile, Wake Forest dominated in doubles play, finishing the season with a 43-25 record and three duos recording double-digit victories. Leading the way for the Deacs was the duo of graduate student Anna Zhang and junior Whitley Pate, who secured a 17-4 record, including starting the season 15-0.
During Ulyashchenko's first year back on campus, Wake Forest compiled 15 wins throughout the 2024 spring. Seven of the 15 victories happened over ranked teams, with three coming against teams inside the top 30. Individually, the Deacs were led by senior captain Casie Wooten, who finished with a team-best 15 wins in dual play (22 overall). The Torrance, California, native also represented at the 2024 NCAA Singles Championships for the second year in a row. In total, Wake Forest had six players record double-digit singles victories in dual play for the 2024 campaign.
A standout for the Demon Deacons from 2015-19, Ulyashchenko played as a reliable factor within both singles and doubles competition. As a senior, the Brooklyn, New York, native recorded 11 solo victories in dual matches while being ranked as high as No. 95 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) list of individuals. Ulyashchenko was similarly effective in doubles – holding a top-50 national ranking with Anna Brylin as her partner and collecting nine total wins throughout the 2019 spring campaign.
During her junior year, Ulyashchenko pieced together a 22-15 singles record, including a 16-10 clip in dual match play and mainly operating in fourth singles. Through doubles, she went 22-9 overall with a 15-8 mark in dual match play and a 7-1 record in tournament competition.
Ulyashchenko’s sophomore year saw her appear in 30 singles matches and 26 doubles matches. In the midst of knocking down a few ranked opponents, she additionally reached a doubles ranking as high as No. 22 with Kimmy Guerrin. The pair ultimately finished 14-8 in the No. 1 doubles slot during the spring of 2017.
Contributing immediately as a freshman in 2015-16, Ulyashchenko went 24-14 in singles and 22-15 in doubles. She ended the year at No. 20 in the ITA Carolina Regional singles rankings and defeated two opponents ranked in the top 70, including a three-set feat over No. 64 Skylar Morton of Virginia to clinch Wake Forest's first win over a top-10 team since 2007. Her first year alongside Kimmy Guerin resulted in the two registering 13 dual-match doubles wins at the No. 1 spot, including four against ranked tandems. The talented duo finished the season ranked 44th in the nation and fourth in the Carolina region.

A five-time Dean’s List selection, Ulyashchenko obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2019 while reaching cum laude honors and holding a minor in Education.
Following her collegiate tenure, Ulyashchenko competed as a professional in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and International Tennis Federation (ITF) events around the world. She held a professional world ranking in the ITF’s top 140, along with a place in the WTA singles top 800 and doubles top 500. Ulyashchenko has won eight ITF Pro Doubles titles and finished as a finalist in a variety of tournaments across multiple countries outside of the United States, including Canada, France, Mexico, Tunisia and Egypt.
During time off from professional competition, Ulyashchenko acted as a private coach instructing and developing some of the top junior tennis players in the country, reigning from Florida, New York and New Jersey. She additionally worked as a tennis instructor for the Greenbrier Country Club, reaching and maintaining the highest client acquisition rate since 2012.
