Deacons Compete at ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ORLANDO, FL--Sophomore Janelle Kraus and senior Nolan Swanson both won events for Wake Forest as the Demon Deacons competed in the first day of the 1998 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Walt Disney World Sports Complex in Orlando, FL on Friday.
North Carolina holds the team lead on the women's side, while N.C. State is ahead on the men's side. Wake Forest is fifth in the men's competition and eighth in the women's.
By virtue of her win in the 3,000 meter run, Kraus becomes the third Deacon to earn All-ACC honors in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field in the same academic year. Kraus won the event with a time of 9:53.91.
Swanson earns All-ACC honors in outdoor track for the first time in his career with a win in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Running in the event for the first time this season, Swanson ran a time of 8:49.48.
Senior Hunter Kemper recorded a second place finish in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 30:47.23.
The meet will conclude on Saturday.
