Over the coming months, GoDeacs.com will provide a look at our student-athletes and administrators away from sports with a Get To Know You series. Be sure to follow our social media channels for more!
Today's Get To Know You is Amy Harding-Delooze of Track & Field and Cross Country. Amy is a native of Sydney, Australia.
What are three words your friends would use to describe you?
I'm not too sure you would have to ask them, but I have been called caring, friendly and organized in the past.
Average Tuesday night dinner with the family, what are you talking about?
On an average Tuesday night at dinner, we talk about the day and general news. These have been few and far between as my family lives in Australia.
What is your favorite place to go in Winston-Salem?
I have different favorite places for different things. My favorite place for coffee is Camino or Krankies, and Salem Lake for running.
If you had a superpower, what would you choose?
Definitely teleporting, as I would be able to see my friends and family in London and Australia and go to interesting parts of the world.
What makes Wake Forest special to you?
Wake Forest is a smaller campus with a great community feel. This allows me to make lifelong connections and meet people from all over the world. I love being part of something that has such a great reputation in all areas.
If you weren't a member of the Track and Cross Country teams, what other sport would you play? Why?
If I didn't compete in Track and Cross Country, I would probably surf. I grew up on the beach and the travel would be amazing.
Describe your favorite Wake Forest memory.
My favorite Wake Forest memory would probably be when my DMR team won ACC Indoor. It was so exciting and to be able to share the experience with three other teammates was something really special. We were underdogs at the beginning of the season and came into the championships ranked first, but still not the favorites. We proved that hard work and teamwork results in accomplishing anything you set your mind to.
