Deacons Track & Field/Cross Country Programs Unveil Unique 2021 Spring Schedule

Wake Forest’s 2021 schedule currently features three country events, seven indoor and 11 outdoor track & field competitions.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC. -- Wake Forest track & field/cross country announced its 2021 spring schedule, which currently features three country meets, seven indoor and 11 outdoor track & field competitions.

"After a successful finish to our fall ACC cross country season at the conference championship meet and a great fall semester of training, our student-athletes and staff are excited to compete in a challenging schedule this spring," Director of Track & Field John Hayes said. "Our staff is grateful to our administration and the University for allowing us the opportunity to find competition for our student-athletes in a healthy and safe environment." 

The Demon Deacons will open the indoor season Jan. 22-23 when they travel to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in this year's Hokie Invitational. Wake Forest is scheduled to compete in four other competitions ahead of the ACC Indoor Championships on Feb. 25-27, and the NCAA Indoor Championships March 12-13.

Outdoors, the Deacs will open the spring in High Point at the Bill Webb Combined Events meet on March 19-20. Following that meet, Wake Forest is tentatively scheduled to compete in six additional invitationals ahead of the ACC Outdoor Championships (May 13-15) in Clemson, S.C., NCAA East Preliminary (May 27-29) in Jacksonville, Fla. and the NCAA Outdoors Championships (June 9-12) in Eugene, Ore. 

Wake Forest's spring cross country season is slated to begin at the Florida State Winter XC Classic on Feb. 5. The Deacs will compete one month later in Tallahassee at a last chance meet ahead of the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla. on March 15. Noted, only the Demon Deacon male student-athletes will be competing in cross country this spring.
