Deacons Fare Well at Kroger Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Kroger Invitational on the campus of Virginia Tech over the weekend.
Janelle Kraus won the women's 5,000m run with a NCAA provisional mark of 16:53.20. Teammate Amy Wallace finished third in the event with a time of 17:44.53. The deacons' Kelly Brady also captured a top three finish, placing third in the 1,000m run with a mark of 2:52.80. Jill Synder finished fourth in the one mile run. Her time was 4:54.40.
Nolan Swanson ran the mile in 4:07.50 to win the event by nearly two seconds over his nearest competitor. Other top performers for the men's team included: Stephan Pro, third in the 3,000m (8:23.60); John Stone, sixth in the long jump (23'11.75); the 4x800 relay team finished third (7:56.38).
Both teams will next compete at the ACC Indoor Championships in Blacksburg on Feb. 19-20.
