PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Wake Forest men's and women's track teams are competing in the 104th running of the Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. The meet began Thursday, April 23 and will conclude on Saturday, April 25.
Brooke Chapman, Summer Shaw, Chrissy Person and Jill Snyder competed on the Wake Forest women's 4x400 relay team that finished second in their heat on Thursday with a time of 3:49.02. Earlier in the day, Shaw, Person and Snyder were joined by Erin Haugh to comprise the Deacons 4x800 relay team. That group finished 10th with a time of 8:53.45.
Individually, Janelle Kraus ran a personal and team season best time of 16:46.41 in the 5,000 meter run to finish 10th. Amy Wallace also ran a personal and team season best time of 37:08.88 to finish 21st in the 10,000 meter run.
On the mens side, Nolan Swanson ran the third fastest time in school history in the 5,000 meter run. He finished fourth in the race with a time of 14:03.03. Teammate Hunter Kemper finished eighth in his heat of the 5,000 with a personal season best time of 14:29.86.
Jon Russell ended the 10,000 meter run in 14th place after recording a time of 29:58.06.
The Wake Forest teams will continue to compete in the meet on Friday and Saturday.
