Winston-Salem, N.C. - The third-ranked Wake Forest field hockey squad placed three of its own on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team as announced by the league yesterday.
Senior forward Jenny Everett heads up the group of three Deacons named to the All-ACC team. Everett, an NFHCA All-American a season ago, averaged 3.11 points in each of the 18 Wake Forest games this season. She scored 56 points in 2000, including 19 goals and 18 assists. She has broken two records this season and holds five other Deacon scoring records. In addition, Everett was one of 17 athletes picked to participate in the 2000 NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star game. The game will be held on Saturday, November 18 at Old Dominion - the site of the 2000 NCAA Championships.
Junior midfielder Jemima Cameron joins Everett on the All-ACC squad after tying teammate Heather Aughinbaugh for second on the team in points scored. Cameron leads the team in shots with 87 and has collected 29 points on 12 goals and five assists this season. She earned All-ACC honors a season ago as a newcomer to the Wake Forest roster.
Aughinbaugh, a sophomore midfielder, is the third Deacon to be named All-ACC this season. Aughinbaugh, named all-conference for the first time in her career, tallied 29 points, including 11 goals and seven assists for Wake Forest in 2000. She scored a goal in seven consecutive games this season, including two games in which she netted two goals.
The Deacons will face Maryland at 4:00 pm today in the second round of the ACC Tournament in College Park, MD. The winner of that game will match up against the winner of the North Carolina/Virginia game in the championship on Sunday, November 5 at 3:30 pm.
