Track Teams Wrap Up Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's and women's track teams completed day two of the Duke Invitational today, despite the several events canceled due to inclement weather. The men's 3000m Steeple Chase, the men's and women's 4x400m relay, and the men's long jump were all canceled. The Deacs were among 2,700 athletes to compete in the two day event.
For the women, senior Jill Snyder led the Deacons with a fourth place finish in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:46.69. Freshman Adralyn Wendel finished 17th in the 800 meter run develop with a time of 4:19.41, and junior Summer Shaw finished 21st in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.54.
On the men's side, junior Josh Buffolino captured 9th in the 800 meter run develop, completing it in 1:52.95. Junior Scott Holmes took 12th in the pole vault, clearing 14'05.25, while junior John Bull finished 19th in the high jump, clearing 6'03.25.
Several members of the men's track team competed at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, CA. Reggie Austin and John Stone both competed in the men's 100 meter dash. Austin placed 2nd with a time of 10.42, while Stone completed the race in 10.70, good for 4th place. Stone also placed 4th in the 200 meter dash, running the event in 21.36. As a team, the Deacons placed 2nd in the 4x100 meter relay. With a 39.95 time, Wake Forest was the first collegiate team to finish. The 4-member squad from Thailand took first place. Joe Ladapo was the only Deac to compete in the discus throw. Ladapo placed 16th with a distance of 41.78 meters. He took individual honors in the men's 110 meter high hurdles as well, with a time of 14.70.
The men's squad will see action again April 15th at the Collegiate Series Meet in Charlotte, NC, while the women will host the Wake Forest Triangular Classic on April 15th.
