WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - John Williams has joined the Wake Forest women's cross country/track & field coaching staff, head coach Annie Schweitzer Bennett announced today. Formerly an assistant track & field coach at Stephen F. Austin State University, Williams served as the interim head track and field coach for the Lumberjacks last fall.
"John is a welcome addition due to his ability to coach many different event areas, which is important as we reformulate the women's team," head coach Annie Schweitzer Bennett said.
A standout athlete at Stephen F. Austin, Williams captained the track team for four years. Recipient of the SFA Sportsmanship Award, Williams was also honored with the Outstanding Community Involvement Award. The six-time Dean's List member graduated Stephen F. Austin with a degree in Speech Communication in Dec., 1998.
While in college, Williams spent his summers working youth camps in Tennessee and Texas, coaching track and leading bible studies. He will start his duties at Wake Forest this fall and will serve as the throwing coach for the Demon Deacons.
