Grayzer and Kovalcik both jumped over 15 feet in the long jump, while Burns and Grayzer finished in 9.69 and 9.52 respectively in the preliminaries of the 60-Meter hurdles. The Deacons saved their best for the pentathlon though.
Grayzer improved her long jump to 16'8" and her 60-Meter hurdles time to 9.33 in the pentathlon, which she placed 9th in with 3,224 points. Burns shaved off four-hundredths of a second on her 60-Meter hurdles time in the pentathlon, which she took 11th place in with 2,905 points. Kovalcik posted 2,692 points for 14th in the pentathlon.
Green, Danos and Shaw all improved their times in the 800-Meter run, finishing 13th, 14th and 16th respectively and all with times under 2:14. Brady ran in the 1,000-Meter run and placed eighth, with a time of 2:54.81. Snyder blazed a 4:49.81 in the Mile Run, 11 seconds faster than her time last weekend at the Hershey Relays and only one second off the NCAA provisional qualifying time.
Wake Forest assistant coach Jennifer Hoppe, who competed in the pentathlon unattached, won the competition with 3,753 points, just missing the meet record - which she set last year. Former Demon Deacon Janelle Kraus, who is serving on the Wake Forest coaching staff this year as a student assistant coach, ran unattached in the 3,000-Meter run at Penn State and took third place with a time of 9:32.29.
The Demon Deacons will return to action Feb. 2-3 at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, IN.
