The Demon Deacons finished ninth in the Men's Distance Medley Relay and fourth in the Women's Distance Medley Relay. Jill Snyder took eighth in the Mile Run, earning All-American honors and Sara Day placed eighth in the Women's 3,000-Meter Run, earning All-American honors. Snyder, a senior from Lewisburg, PA, concluded her track and field career at Wake Forest as a five-time All-American. The school record holder in seven events ran a 4:45.29 in the Mile Run to place eighth and earn All-America accolades in the Mile Run, to go with the All-America certificate she earned Friday in the Distance Medley Relay, in which she ran the lead leg for.
Day, a senior from Winston-Salem, NC, broke her own school record in the 3,000-Meter Run, finishing eighth with a time of 9:23.60, earning All-American honors. The ACC Champion in both the 3,000 and 5,000, Day becomes a two-time All-American after running the anchor leg of the Distance Medley Relay on Friday.
The Demon Deacons will return to action this weekend as Wake Forest begins the outdoor track season at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, NC. Complete results of the 2001 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships are available at NCAA Championships.
