Wake Forest Rallies to Win Against Cincinnati

Winston-Salem, NC - The 12th-ranked Wake Forest baseball team rallied for a 3-2 victory against Cincinnati on Friday at Hooks Stadium.
Junior Ryan Johnson went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove home all three Wake Forest runs. His run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth proved to be the game-winner.
Steve LeFaivre led off the eighth with a walk and advance to second on a wild pitch. Stephen Ghutzman moved the runner to third before Johnson singled through the right side for the go-ahead run.
For the second straight day, senior All-American Dave Bush came on a worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save.
Sophomore Adam Hanson pitched a perfect eighth inning and got the victory in relief of Kyle Sleeth. Sleeth pitched seven innings and allowed just one earned run with seven strikeouts.
Cincinnati took the lead in the top of the first with a pair of runs. The score remained that way until the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on second and third and two out, Johnson singled to score LeFaivre and Nick Blue.
Wake Forest improves to 5-1 on the year while Cincinnati falls to 4-3. The two teams will continue their weekend series on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Freshman Tim Morley gets the start for the Demon Deacons.
