FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Nikeya Green (So., middle distance, Woodbridge, VA) placed eighth in the women's 800m, earning All-American honors, Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Arkansas' Randal Tyson Indoor Track in Fayetteville, AR. She finished with a time of 2:10.34, scoring for the Wake Forest women's indoor track team, placing the Demon Deacons in a tie for 51st place.
"She had a physical race and learned a lot," said Wake Forest head coach Annie Schweitzer Bennett. "The young girl got kind of pushed around some, but we're happy with how she finished in her indoor season and now we're moving forward to the outdoor season."
Green, who earned All-American honors last year at the NCAA Indoor Championships as the third leg of the fourth place women's distance medley relay, owns the ACC's second fastest time in the indoor 800m this season and Wake Forest's school record.
Wake Forest will return to action next weekend when the Demon Deacons open their outdoor season at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, NC. Complete results from the 2002 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, are available at ladybacks.com.
