Richards Breaks School Long Jump Record

PHILADELPHIA - The Wake Forest men??s and women??s track & field teams were in action this weekend at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. Cassy Richards broke the school long jump record with a mark of 18-11.25.
Sandra Jenkins placed 16th in the shot put with a toss of 42-0.75 and Jen Leesman came in 19th place with a mark of 40-6.25. Danielle Coon finished ninth in the 3,000m with a time of 9:52.76, the team??s best so far this season. In the distance medley relay, the Demon Deacon women came in seventh place with a time of 11:37.49 and the men took third in 9:40.36, just 22-hundredths of a second off the school record. Wake Forest also deployed a team in the women??s 4x800m relay and finished in eighth place with a time of 8:45.06. Alan Susi tossed a 183-2 in the javelin throw to take 19th place and Cliff Neal garnered 10th place in the hammer throw with a mark of 191-3. Luke Orman reached 21-11.75 in the long jump, good for 15th place and Branston Williams recorded a 55.38 in the 400m hurdles, coming in 44th place.
Wake Forest will return to action Friday, May 3 when the Demon Deacons travel to Palo Alto, CA to compete in the Cardinal Invitational. Complete results from the Penn Relays are available at thepennrelays.com.
