Women's Tennis Defeated 6-1 At #19 Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The 50th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to No. 19 Notre Dame Saturday afternoon at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. The Fighting Irish swept doubles play and then won five of six singles matches.
Katie Martzolf picked up the lone victory for the Demon Deacons. She stopped No. 73 Alicia Salas 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Aimee Smith and Sandie Knight took their Notre Dame opponents to three sets before falling.
Wake Forest falls to 1-9 with the loss and Notre Dame improves to 5-5 with the win. The Demon Deacons return to action tomorrow when they travel to Champaign, Ill., to take on No. 25 Illinois at 10:00 a.m.
