Green, Bersagel, Alteri Shine At Track Regional

Junior Nikeya Green qualified for the 800-meter finals and sophomore Anne Bersagel earned Wake Forest its first team points, highlighting Wake's efforts at the NCAA Track and Field East Regional in Fairfax, VA.
Green finished second in her 800-meter heat with a time of 2:04.46. Bersagel, who has already qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000-meters, finished sixth in the 5,000-meters. Bersagel earned the Deacons three points, placing them in 16th place out of more than 100 teams after one day of competition.
On the men's side, senior Mike Alteri qualified for the finals in the 1,500-meters. He finished third in his heat with a time of 3:48.74. Freshman Brad Wharton finished fourth in his heat in the 1,500-meters.
Other Deacon participants in the women's competition included freshman Lindsay Neubereger, who finished fourth in her flight in the shot put. Sophomore Cassy Richards finished sixth in her flight in the long jump.
Competition concludes tomorrow at the George Mason University track. The top five finishers in each event qualify for the June 11-13 NCAA Championships in Sacramento, CA.
