Competing at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, CA, Wake Forest sophomore Anne Bersagel finished seventh Thursday night in the 10,000-meters. The seventh-place finish makes Bersagel an All-American selection.
Bersagel ran a time of 33:24.03, which is just one second off the school record and her personal-best time. Thursday's performance caps a remarkable sophomore year for Bersagel, who also earned All-American honors in the fall in cross country and in the winter in indoor track.
Bersagel becomes the 10th female track athlete in Wake Forest history to earn All-American honors in outdoor track, including just the third in the 10,000-meters.
Also Thursday, junior Nikeya Green finished third in her 800-meter semifinal heat, earning her a spot in Saturday night's finals. Green ran a time of 2:04.56 Thursday to qualify for Saturday's 8 p.m. (PT) final. Green will be one of three ACC athletes in the 800-meter final.
Green is vying to earn All-American honors in the 800-meters for the second straight year.
